STC v.4 - WSiK#1 pairings and game vs AdMech

As I’ve mentioned before, this was the first time Belarusian teams took part in the Polish team tourney. And we did not know what to expect. In reality, we were a bit cautious. As a result, all our fears turned to dust with a warm welcome from the Polish Warhammer community! We’ve received a challenge from the Katowice teams WSiK #1 and WSiK #2 and happily accepted the invitation for the first game:)

"Space Wolves do not have enough firepower to kill my horde army," - he said...

The preparation for the tournament was mainly focused on retrieving and painting miniatures, cause not everyone had already transported the army to Poland. Through the preparation process, we had two drops and had to look for replacement players. As a result, we managed to bring two full Belarusian teams with fully painted armies without borrowed miniatures! Cool:)

The plan for the first game was simple. We had 2 bottles of exclusive Belarusian balsam… This is the end of the plan:)

As a seasoned captain, I’ve forced everyone on my team to fill in the table of expectations for pairings, but as most of my teammates had limited recent experience, the expectations weren’t reliable at all. So, frankly speaking, I did pairings on a whim:)

This is our table of expectations on a 0-20 scale.

We had a fast start with short but warm greetings from the WSiK #1 team. We've put IH as first defender and I don't remember the rest, actually:) Did pairings really quick which ended in the following manner:

20 - 0
20 - 0
3 - 17
8 - 12
18 - 2

So, in a result, we've managed somehow to get a major team victory with 3 solid wins and 1 loss. As far as I know all games went smooth and frindly :)

Tyranids vs Adeptus Mechanicus

I've played the first game with Piotr and his MSU AdMech (Mars) army.

Mission 11 means that it's tough to get points on Engage. I could go for banners optionally, but decided to focus on total annihilation of the opponent's army and took Warp Ritual, No prisoners and Assassination.

Piotr started with Eradication of flesh, Banners and Abhor the witch.

AdMech list is here:

My tyrannocyte with pyros as usual on orbit. Admech sent both ptyraxii to deepstrike. We hid everything behind large ruins.

Turn1

AdMech got first turn, moved forward onto the objectives and hid robots and infiltrators behind the central ruins, leaving ballistarii in the open. No shooting. Only did 3 banners on objectives.

Tyranids

Hormagaunts managed to reach and bring down the infiltrators on the left flank, retreating after behind the ruin thanks for overrun stratagem.

Pyrovores dropped on the right flank and with the help of 1 carnifex and a tyrant managed to bring down 4 of 6 Breachers.
On the left flank I've killed 1 ballistarii with carnifex, Piot removed the central one (only visible to a shardgullet tyrant) and as a result broke coherency and had to remove the second ballistarii as well in a morale phase.

Turn 2

One Pteraxii unit popped in my deployment and second unit - close to the opponents deployment. I lost half of one gaunt's squad and only 3 left from the second squad of gants. The rest of the shooting and robots assault killed 5 of 6 pyrovores (I've tossed Catalyst on the 3 pyrovore squad, making it hard to kill).

I've started my second turn with gant's resurrection, and charged opponents rangers and central pteraxii with both gant squads, wiping rangers and killing 3 pf 5 pteraxii.
In the backfield I've killed only 2 pteraxii with carnifex.
Carnifex+tyrant shooting and magic made all but 1 ballistarii to disapper. Tyrant finished bobots in close combat as well. I took control over 5 objectives, leaving my opponent without CP's, with only 1 objective and only 1 banner remaining.

Turn 3

AdMech managed to bring down one squad of gaunts only, so that was not a problem to finish the leftover admech models left on the table.

After turn 3 only a few rangers and heroes left with a wipeout turn 4.

The scoring sheet is pretty obvious:

The table combined with first turn was terrible for AdMech, allowing me to hide effectively for 2 turns and land a killing blow on my turn 2.

With a solid victory, we go to the top of the leaderboard:) To be continued...
