STC v.4 - BMC pairings and game vs Daemons

The last game of the tournament is with the BMC team from Warsaw. I've managed to play with 4 out of 5 players of team BMC before and they definitely did not come to Rybnik "just for fun" as they stated!

The estimations table is neither awesome nor good.

I've managed to find normal pairings for every player and a positive one for me.

14 - 6
20 - 0
11 - 9
10 - 10
15 - 5

All the results were below expectations, except for GSC, who took a "split". Anyway, the games were both fun and interesting, especially mine - for sure, cause I had no experience with Daemons before and expected an easy match:) What a fool!

Tyranids - Daemons

I play with Behemoth, BMC team captain.

His army list can be found here:

All-slaanesh daemons, look awesome. I selected a table with a lot of forests as I was going to fight a melee army.

I've misjudged Daemons and decided that I'll wipe them easily, that's why I took Assassination, No prisoners, and Warp Ritual missions.

Behemoth took No prisoners, Reality something (daemons quarters) and Retrieve battlefield data.

Deployment
2 feends units and 3 daemonettes units are deepstriking, while everything else, except for seekers are in hiding. Seekers are on my left - behind containers. I take the bite and deploy all three carnifexes on my left flank to get a shot with a possible first turn.

I make a screen with one gant unit with everything aggressively deployed right behind the screen. Pyrovores are deepstriking as usual.

I lose the most important roll - for the first turn. As usual, this roll is extremely important for reserve-heavy armies.

Turn 1

Behemoth rolls 5 4+ for Warp Storms, which is good for him, cause now seekers can ignore difficult ground and get +1 charge to get a first turn 6-inch charge to hormies.

Seekers charge in and kill me a hormagaunt unit, while unit of daemonettes takes the central objective for mission and to block my deepstrike as well.

On my right flank, I advance my tyrant shielded by tyrant guards. The second tyrant goes to the center, scoring Warp Ritual.

With shooting and charges, I take down seekers and daemonettes in the center. After that, I overran hormagaunts behind the tyrant and into the forest to protect them from possible charges.

Turn 2

Behemoth rolls 5 4+ for Storms again! No luck for me... again...

Fiends on the table comes closer to tyrant in the center, daemonettes opt for an 8-inch charge for hormies in the forest.

On the left flank daemonettes fit in the very corner close to 6 Ld carnifex to make a Retrieve data action. Fiends from deepstrike come within 6 inches of the icon and have a 7-inch charge for the second hormagaunts.

All charges go off successfully. Ufff...

I lose all but 1 hormagaunt on the left and 11 hormagaunts in the center... killing four daemonettes in return. Tyrant loses 10 wounds but stands, killing one Fiend with FnP back.

I drop the spore in the only viable position on the far right, aiming at central fiends. Central tyrant falls back as well as hormies.

Zoeys bring down 1 more fiend in the center, 4 left. After that carnies shoot down 2 fiends on top. Two pyrovores finish central daemonettes. All the rest try to kill at least some of the central seekers, but Behemoth rolls high and no more fiends die. Oooops. Good that I've regenerated 2 wounds and buffed central tyrant with FnP.

In assault one carnifex kills 3 daemonettes, 2 carnies kill one more fiend. They fail morale and only 1 left as a result. Nice.

Tyrant guards and pyrovores charge daemonettes on the right, killing them outright. Thanks to the obsec monsters I control 4 of 5 objectives and have cleared the right flank. On the other hand, I failed seriously with the central fiends pack!

Turn 3

Last fiends unit comes from reserve and heads for carnifexes together with the last daemonettes unit.

Central fiends charge the tyrant again, but fail, dealing only 1 more wound.
Fiends and daemonettes managed to kill one carnifex.

Maybe it was a mistake, but I've decided to focus magic on the central fiends, supported by the second tyrant charge, and did not fall-back with the wounded tyrant. As so, I was not able to shoot at them with pyrovores and just flamed one character on the right to death.

While one carni still was in close combat with daemonettes, only 1 carnifex and a shardgullet shot at fiends, killing only ONE. Not good, not good. As so, I've decided not to charge in with carnifex.

After magic only 2 fiends left in the center, tyrant managed to kill.... ONE! The last one dealed 1 damage 3 wound to wounded tyrant. It failed save, failed a reroll, failed FnPs... and died.

Turn 4

Last fiend squad charges into my zoanthropes on my home objective, killing 2. But they ignored 3 hormagaunts close to the objective, so in my turn, I managed to spawn gants and score the objective.

On the right flank I have LoS on daemonettes on their home objective, but fail to flame them down with 6d6 autohits...

Hive Tyrant charged fiends, while last gant unit with all the buffs charged both solo fiend and 5-man fiend units. It was a huge mistake, cause I had to charge only solo fiend with gants! But it's always hard to think on your fifth game of non-stop warhammer:)

So I've killed only 1 fiend with a tyrant and ZERO with gants and fiends finished my hormies, claiming the objective... silly me:)

Turn 5.

Daemonettes from home objective charged my tyrant guards,

 encircling them in the end.

Fiends finished my zoanthropes.

Tyrant killed one fiend and broke free from combat.

Tyrant tried to get the last pts for Warp ritual, but was denied.
Pyrovores needed a 5-inch charge to get objective, but failed.
Tyrant needed 6-inch charge to kick some more fiendish asses and get the objective, but also failed.
The end...

The resulting score is 9 - 11 in favor of Daemons!

So, I failed with Assassination completely, my Warp Ritual was denied twice. And I gave a lot of points on primary due to 3 planted explosives and a silly gaunt charge at the end. I didn't mention explosives throughout the game, but daemonettes on the left were busy planting all the game:)

It was a very interesting and mind wrecking game for me against an army with a lot of unfamiliar rules. Behemoth was the top sport and explained all the complex daemonic rules in detail, so the game was clear and as friendly as possible. I've learned a lot from it  :)

So this is the last game and the end of the tourney. It was full of emotions and positive in general :)
