After a loooooong pause, I’m back again. This time I’ve appeared from Warp in the very heart of Warsaw, right near the FGB wargaming club:) Quickly set up a base of operations and submitted to the tourney.
So, I plan to quickly describe my army as it was planned and then go through my games, and we’ll see if everything went according to the plan (is it really possible?) :).
So, the tourney FGB 8 took place on March 18 in Warsaw. The detailed info, including army lists, can be found on TourneyKeeper via the link: https://tourneykeeper.net/Singles/TKLeaderboard.aspx?id=6549

As tyranid’s secondaries suck, I’ve decided to go with a different approach - to counterplay the opponent’s secondaries!
1. Optimize the points that can be possibly taken from my army (10-10-10 for major three here with neat 99 wounds for No prisoners, lol). And just 11 for psykers just in case. Also not many «easy to kill units» like solo pyrovores, lictors, or sky-slashers, sometimes pop up in rosters.
2. Get some fast obsec units to contest objectives for primary.
3. Dead can not score objectives. So I focused on «killy» over «controlling» units / special rules.
Leviathan is a «controlling» or defensive fleet, while Gorgon is a highly «killy» one.
Firstmost combo:
15 hormagaunts need only 1 CP to get auto 6 inch advance with charge allowed. It’s cheap 120 points with S3 that wound everything except for Vehicles on 4+. So they benefit the most from Gorgon major adaptation.
I’ve tried Swarmlord and he is great but decided to step back to a simple tyrant just for the price tag. Stuffed with Direct guidance and rerolls of 1’s from a Tyrant, hormagaunts get around 35 hits, which is just 5 less than with a Swarmlord and quite enough to toss out 6 mortals with Poisonous influence psychic power!
So, hormies deal an average of 18 wounds (-1 AP) and 6 mortals to ANY non-vehicle unit:)
Second combo:
I’ve got a solid anti-tank shooting here with 3 HVC, Shardgullet, and Balethorn cannons. All cannons benefit from 1 reroll to-wound per unit as a lesser Gorgon Adaptation. Capable of bringing down a full Necron Silent King in one phase of shooting - that is a lot!
But why is it a combo? Because I’ve supported tyrants with Tyrant guards, that provide a possibility to hide T-guards and expose tyrants, winning any shootout, cause «I can shoot and you don’t» situation, hehe.
Third combo:
Shardgullet tyrant can advance, then get onslaught - shoot without penalties and charge in the same turn. I’ve also stuffed him with Scream power and Adrenal Glands to make him an ultimate killing machine! Able to bring down a full Castellan Imperial Knight in a single turn!
Also, we have here like 14 mortals on average with smites-scream from magic! Quite a lot!
In close combat, all our monsters are even better with Gorgon’s minor adaptation, cause we are currently low on CP’s for re-rolls.
And my most loved ones - the barbecue boyz. I need them to deal with mass-infantry armies, also with close-combat armies, also to score Engage on all fronts from early game turns. Tyrannicyte is able to bring in 6 pyrovores at once on turn 1 (regardless of mission rules) and it makes deployment and positioning for opponents much harder, starting from turn 1.
So, this is the plan - to kill everything on the board as soon as possible and score points after:) Let’s see how it goes. The battle reports are on the way!
