You can stop the hammer with your shield, but don’t try to stop the anvil that falls from the sky!

The Past and the Future of the Hive-Fleet Hyenna

Year 2009. Actually, I bought my first starter “Battle for Macragge” when my son was born, in August 2009. It took about 5 month to paint 10 gants, 8 spore mines and 6 genestealers!
Year 2010. I did a lot of painting with no game played. I just painted, converted and discussed my army ideas via the internet. I had 71 fully painted models for my first game of 40k at the end of the year, including tervigon conversion;)

Tyranids read FAQs v 1.2

I waited so long for these and I got it! Now gants deploy 6" from spore!!! Yeah, anti-blast deployment! No more punishment from blasts and flamers!!!

Once a Mycetic Spore has landed, all creatures within must immediately deploy – place the unit such that every model is wholly within 6" of the Mycetic Spore.

Brothers in Arms - 2012. Epilogue

Brothers in Arms 2012 is my first team tourney as well as my first tourney outside my native country – Belarus. I’m glad that my friends pulled me out to the event and I’m delighted to play in the “Minsk & Co” team. Actually I have affected the team result not only in good way, nevertheless I tried to play at the very high level and succeed at the task.

Lets look at my expectations before the tourney and the outcome. My army was planned to be an attacker for different “platoon behind the Aegis” armies with minimum of mech. In every round of pairings I had a couple of good targets for attack and I think it wasn’t hard for captain to pick a good pairing for me. I think that I hit the meta very well, cause that was a usual situation, when I successfully attacked the very first enemy defender. As a result I think that it’s wise not to change the army “style”, nevertheless some tuning is still possible.

Lets make a unit by unit analysis:

Brothers in Arms - 2012. Game 5 - vs Torf (IG+SW)

The last game was not with tourney leaders – team HYDRA, as we expected, but with the secont team from Saint Pietersburg – “Successfulness aka alco-party”. Besides the name, the team is highly competitive:)

Let’s look at my pairings estimations for this team:

Chaos Daemons - 16
IG/SW - 16
Eldar/Tau - 10
DE/Eldar - 14
Tyranids - 12
SW/SM – 6

Looks great – only one bad pairing at first glance. But it’s not as good if to mention the mission – Purge the Alien! I posted my estimations for all the missions, but they are very different for this mission in reality.
Johnny, as a experienced captain, estimated that SW/SM army won’t be played as a champion, but there can be a IG/SW army with high probability. So he put me as a champion. And if my estimations were not exact, captain did no mistakes and I get IG/SW as my last opponent!
